Lately I've been cranking The Sword's Age of Winters repeatedly. It's a ton of borrowed Sabbath via Sleep -- a mix of retro and modern similiar to Floor, Torche, High on Fire. All of this kind of stuff's been out for awhile now. For the most part, it's holding up for me.

The Sword haven't found a voice that's 100% truly their own. But they can really play, and their shit's catchy as hell. I throw horns every time I have it on.

A favorite indie video store on my block's shutting down in a few days... bummer. Last night, a dude who's familiar with me let me rent 4 discs without charging.

I talked to the owner a bit, a real veteran of the film world. He's retiring & packing it up for Minnesota. He's turning his massive collection of films into an archive, mainly available for students and other film obsessives.
